If the Campbell Student Union is the center of student life on campus, then E. H. Butler Library is the epicenter of academic learning. The library has more than 546,000 printed books, 320,000 electronic books, and access to full-text articles from over 79,000 unique print and electronic journals.

E. H. Butler Library was named for Edward Hubert Butler Sr., founder of the Buffalo Evening News and president of the Buffalo State College Board of Directors (now the College Council) until his death in 1914.
