Along with the Sports Arena, Houston Gym forms the college’s 70,000-square-foot Sports Complex and is home to the NCAA Division III Buffalo State Bengals.
Houston Gym contains the 25-by-42-foot, 400-seat Kissinger Pool; a dance studio; basketball, racquetball, and volleyball courts; and a state-of-the-art Fitness Center, free to all Buffalo State undergraduate students.
Surrounding athletics facilities include Coyer Field, Softball Field, practice fields, and a quarter-mile (400 meter) outdoor track.
Houston Gym also houses the Intercollegiate Athletics Office, and offices for Health and Wellness Department faculty.

Houston Gymnasium was named for Ruth E. Houston, a faculty member from 1917 to 1952 and the first female chair of the Physical Education Department. Coyer Field was dedicated to Hubert Coyer, men's basketball and soccer coach and athletics director from 1932 to 1952. The Robert Kissinger Memorial Pool is named in honor of Robert Kissinger was an accomplished men's freestyle swimmer who died of cancer as a Buffalo State sophomore in November 1971.
